I don’t know whether to call these brownies or bars but I do know they are incredible! Orange flavored anything has been a long favorite of mine. The brownies are very moist and there is enough fresh orange for a little zing!
These are very easy to make and don’t take much time. The biggest problem is that I want to eat them all! I can justify having one for breakfast, after all, they are orange and that means breakfast to me! Hey, there are 4 eggs in these, another reason to have 1 or even 2 for breakfast….
2 Cups sugar
1 1/2 Cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 Cup butter, softened
4 lg. eggs
2 tsp. orange extract
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp. orange zest, divided
1 Cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. orange juice
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13 pan with baking spray.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour and salt.
Add butter, eggs, orange extract and 1 tsp. of the orange zest.
Beat until well blended, spread batter into prepped pan.
Bake for 30 minutes in a 350°F oven.
While the brownies are baking, combine glaze ingredient, adding the remaining 1 tsp. of orange zest.
Upon removing from oven, pierce with a fork in a few places. Spread with glaze while brownies are still warm.
Cool and cut into squares.
