On the weekends, after my second cup of coffee, I love to make breakfast. This Blueberry Dutch Baby is one of my favorites, it’s not too involved and is quick to make. It works out fine for me because I love my coffee in the morning! I can quickly get this in the oven and then sit, with my third cup of coffee while it bakes…ideal. Best of all, it tastes really delicious! Can you tell that I’m not a morning person? Continue reading
It may be snowing out today, but I know spring is on the way. It’s been a long winter here! Easter will be here soon, and it never seems right without some Hot Cross Buns. I will make these again on Easter! Every year I get into the mood for Hot Cross Buns and this year is no different. I have tried various recipes and the one I made this year really hit the mark. The blend of spices is just right for what I like. Like so many other foods, what you grew up eating and liking, sets the bar for something tasting “right” when you get older.
This bread is very moist and full of fruit. The glaze is out of this world!! I’m really not sure if it’s a quick bread or cake. Does it matter? It’s not as sweet as most cakes, it is sturdier and it is baked in a loaf pan, so I’ll go with quick bread. The other day, I had 4 very ripe bananas on the counter, the recipe just needed 2 bananas for a loaf, so I doubled the whole recipe and made two loaves. Glad I did, friends were over and one loaf disappeared!
I don’t know what triggered my desire for a crumb cake, but I couldn’t get it out of my head, so I made one. I went looking and found one that was close to what I wanted to make. I adapted it to my taste and it turned out great. A soft cake with a moist cream cheese layer, hiding under the crumb topping….lots of crumb topping!
I simply cannot get over how good these Almond Butterhorns are. I had to freeze the extras so that I wouldn’t just keep eating them. I took some to my 94 year old mother and she loved them too. My friend, Kim, gave me the recipe that was from an 81 year old friend of a friend. Kim knew it was the type of recipe I would love and she was so right! It is not a difficult recipe but you do need to start the day ahead.
Quiche rates right up there as one of my favorite foods. I’ve tried many different recipes and this one is one of the best! The bacon and ham combo is perfect with a little green onion. I have been known to go pretty heavy on the bacon….just because! Yeah, I love bacon. Overnight guests always love it when you pull a quiche out of the oven.
I saw fresh cranberries last week at the grocery store and they jumped into my grocery cart. I quickly scooted over to where the oranges were and picked up some. I knew that I wanted to share this recipe, on the blog, as soon as I could. I also wanted to have this bread to eat! I’ll confess that I was eating a piece as I took the blog pictures. It’s so good. Don’t wait, make some with the first cranberries that find their way into your shopping cart!
